Computer Centre The Computer Centre
offers computational facilities to fulfil the curricular needs of undergraduate students. The centre is equipped with high end Computers. The number of computers is in a 1:1 ratio. Students work under networked environment. The centre is enriched in all the software and operating systems.
The Centre is well equipped to meet the central computing requirements of the faculty, staff and students of the institute. All the major software and hardware platforms have made available to the faculty and students. The Computer Centre develops and maintains college websites, Proxy Servers, FTP Servers, DNS Servers; it also provides Antivirus solutions and Email facilities to faculty and staff. The Centre remains open from 8.30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekdays. It also looks after maintenance of computers and other IT infrastructure of the college. The Centre also provides various advanced and special purpose software like Matlab, Qualnet etc for the campus users. The Centre is also involved in developing software for in-house use. Short term courses for non teaching staff of the college are also conducted by the computer faculty.
The Centre is also responsible for management of Internet bandwidth management and currently 6 Mbps Internet leased line terminates in the computer Centre from where it is distributed to other departments of the college. The Computer Centre also manages the Campus wide network of the institute. The campus wide network has been extended to all the hostels and faculty. New hardware and software are procured on a regular basis so as to provide a state of the art computing facility to the SUSWEC family. To cope with the power cuts and to provide maximum uptime to the users, computer Centre is powered by 10 KVA capacity UPS systems backed with adequate generator supply.
COMPUTER GRAPHICS LAB
It refers to the generation of graphical outputs using computer. Computer graphics techniques are being applied to the making of cartoons. Drawing a series of action sequences which when run at high speed, creates the illusion of moving pictures, appear to move. This is known as animation.
CADD- Computer Aided Design and Drafting.
CAD- Computer Aided Design .
CAM- Computer Aided Manufacturing. CAM uses results of CAD.
CAD is not a substitute for design/ drawing concept. It's only a tool that can be used to supplement traditional methods. It's parallel to use of calculators. They are used for solving mathematics problem but still knowledge of mathematics is required by user to solve it. What is eliminated is the tedious task of performing long hand mathematical manipulation.
DATA COMMUNICATIONS LAB
Data communications lab is a hardware lab and it is aimed to provide students basic information about networking and fundamentals of data transmission. In this lab, students are shown hardware for transmission media and various devices used in installing LAN topologies and they also learn how to configure their components.
The basic aim of DC lab is to make students familiar with network computing, peer to peer networking, hybrid networking, client server architecture and also configuring network neighbourhood. The hardware used in this lab consists of various switches, hubs, routers, transmission cables, network interface cards, cable connectors and DSL modems
SOFTWARE LAB-IV (SP)
Study of direct linking loader module for a subset of assembly language and macro instructions of a typical machine.
S/w lab on I/O programming e.g interfacing some device to intel 8085 microprocessor based systems through serial and parallel ports
Study of Assembler and its coding(working).
Study of loaders and coding(working).
S/w lab on developing basic features of an editors.
Programs using OOPS
OPERATING SYSTEM LAB
Operating system is a system program that is very significant software as it is used to communicate with the computer hardware. In our daily life, we use windows that are again an operating system. So it is very important for the students have its basic and its practical knowledge.
The labs in our college are fully equipped and students can perform experiments. In laboratories, we practice Red Hat LINUX operating system. It includes LINUX commands and shell commands that are implemented in handling the file system. As LINUX is very old & complex operating system students can learn the origin of various operating systems. Operating system labs includes the implementation and installation of vi editor. This help students to clarify their doubts and understand the concepts of operating system practically.
Linux is swallowing the market share of other operating systems. This Lab is dedicated to Unix/ Linux Operating System. To enhance the students skills and meet the future requirements of industry various project are given to students to develop on this popular operating system . Students carry out their projects, related Linux/ Networking projects in this lab.
FCPIT LAB
The lab provides students the exposure to computer fundamentals and information technology in their very first phase of
professional career. It helps them to effectively understand the preliminary aspects of computer science field cum programming practice as a part of their curriculum. The students are made to perform different practical which help them in developing their programming skills. It also equips the students with fundamentals of data structures and the algorithms associated with them. Complete overview of installation of windows xp is given and practically performed.
The students are given through knowledge of Ms- office.
